24th of July 2024

In the morning we enjoyed the wonderful weather on the beach in Šķēde. First we spent our time at the beach and we had lunch outside in front of our truck. Next we drove to the north and passed the towns of Rucava, Nīca and Pērkone. 

In the afternoon we visited the town of Liepāja and here we enjoyed our time in the city centre of Liepāja. Liepāja we were impressed especially by the colourful buildings and the snugness.

In the evening we found an amazing overnight spot at a beach near by the town of Šķēde.

25th of July 2024

Once again we were happy to have found a wonderful place to stay for the night like this. This spot allowed us to enjoy your breakfast outside and to took a bath in the Baltic Sea. Next we left the coast and we drove to north-east and we passed to towns of Mežaine and Lanksēži. The roads are mostly gravel and small.

In the afternoon we reached Kuldīga. Here we enjoyed the widest waterfall in Europe and took a beautiful walk through the center of Kuldīga. In Kuldīga we took a lot of photos, the most city photos on this trip.

In the evening we found a campsite in front of the lake called "Usmas Ezers".

26th of July 2024

In the morning we drove to North-West, back to the coast of Latvia at the Baltic Sea. In Ventspils we spent the whole afternoon and have an extensive walk through the centre. Ventspils have a own district called "Bērnu pilsētiņa" especially for children's. This children's town is a big city park with a lot of playgrounds.

In the evening we found a wonderful overnight stay at the beach of Staldzene (Staldzenes stāvkrasts). Before going to bed we had a lot of fun on the beach and built stone figures.

27th of July 2024

We started the day with a bath in the Baltic Sea and then built a sandcastle on the beach in Staldzene. Next we continue the road to North along the coast of Courland respectively the Baltic Sea. In Mazirbe we visited the center of the Livonians, a traditional tribe in Latvia.

At Cape Kolka (Kolkasrags) we took a walk along the beach to the point where the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Riga meet. 

In the afternoon we drove south along the coast of the Gulf of Riga. In Roja we found a beautiful place to stay overnight near the beach.

28th of July 2024

The morning was cloudy, but we were able to swim in the Gulf of Riga. At the noon time we drove along the coast of the Gulf of Riga to south by passing the towns of Mersrags, Bērzciems, Engure and Lapmežciems. Before Ķemeri we left the coast and we drove to the Ķemeri National Park (Lielais Ķemeru tīrelis). The Ķemeri National Park is an internationally important wetland contains forests and mires. Here we had a Wonderful extensive walk by rain.

In the afternoon we found an overnight spot in Druvciems, Jūrmala at the river Lielupe. In the evening we were visited by the police and the police warned us for the upcoming storm. And the night was horrible because of the storm.

29th of July 2024

After a very stormy night we were completely exhausted. Our bed was wet because rain came in through a side window and the skylight. Otherwise, the truck does not appear to have suffered any damage from the storm.

In Druvciems, Jūrmala our overnight spot there is another Situation.Outside the river was flooded, disrupted tried and folded power poles and drowned houses. Since the situation in Riga was better, we went to the city campsite. Here we rented a car to visit the historic city center. We were very impressed by the beautiful and colorful buildings.

In the evening we was back at the City Camping side and were busy to wash our clothes.

Druvciems, Jūrmala -> Dubulti, Jūrmala (4 km) -> Riga (24 km)

30th of July 2024

In the morning we left Riga and drove to the North-East of Latvia. Before Sigulda we had a stop at the castle of Turaidas (Turaidas pils ). Here the whole family had fun by visiting the beautiful garden and the castle itself. The castle has many corridors and rooms that we can explore on our own.

Next we visited the caves of Gūtmaņa (Gūtmaņa ala). This scenery was more characterised by wood stairs up and down the hills instead of Caves. But nevertheless it was a great excursion.

In the afternoon we drove back to the coast of the Gulf of Riga. In Saulkrasti we found a wonderful overnight spot directly at the beach. Here we were able to spend wonderful hours and enjoy the sunset.

31st of July 2024

This day started with a wonderful morning at the beach of Saulkrasti. Here we swam in the sea and flew a kite. In the afternoon we visited the riff, caves respectively the beach of Veczemju (Veczemju klintis). This was a wonderful stop in a wonderful scenery included a bath in the ocean.

Next we drove to North and passed the border to Estonia between Ainaži and Treimani, a small road where the border we not noticable. In Orajõe we found our overnight spot closed to the beach.
